GEAR LUBRICANTS

In today’s world of efficiency improvements, a lot of emphasis is placed on reducing energy requirements for equipment used in plant operations.  Summit gear lubricants have proven to reduce friction, thereby reducing the input power to operate the equipment or increasing the available power output.  The reduction of fluid friction results in lower lubricant operating temperatures, prolonging the life of both the lubricant and the equipment.

Summit has developed synthetic gear oils which will not only reduce frictional drag, but will also protect gears against failures associated with heavy loading. Better wear protection, thermal and oxidation stability and reduced sludge and deposit formation insure enhanced performance when compared with petroleum-based lubricants.

Applications

Summit’s full line of gear lubricants have applications built to protect against heavy loading or shock loading, heavy duty manual transmissions and other industrial heavy duty gear drives including hypoid and worm gear operation under high speed/low torque or low speed/high torque and much more.

ENVIROTECH EAL EP GEAR OILS

EnviroTech® EAL EP Gear Oils are environmentally responsible biodegradable gear oils designed for the protection of gears and bearings in systems where high temperature and/or extreme pressure conditions exist. EnviroTech® EP Gear Oils meet or exceed the following performance requirements: U.S. Steel 224; AGMA 9005/250.04; DIN 51517, Part 3; David Brown DB S1.53.101; Cincinnati Machine E.P. EnviroTech® EAL EP Series complies with the “biodegradable”, “minimallytoxic” and “not bioaccumulative” standards as defined in Appendix A of the 2013 Vessel  General Permit issued by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

RECOMMENDED USES

EnviroTech® EAL EP Gear Oils are made from a vegetable based formulation recommended for lubricating spur, helical, bevel, and worm gear configurations. These bio-based lubricants are intended for heavy-duty applications subject to heavy loading or shock loading. Classified as ultimately biodegradable (PW1) and non-toxic, EnviroTech EAL EP Gear Oils are ideal for equipment operating in environmentally sensitive areas. Prior to transitioning equipment on board vessels to EnviroTech® EAL Series, the ship owner/operator should verify with the equipment manufacturer that the sealing  system is compatible for use with an EAL.

SYNGEAR SH-1000 SERIES

Syngear® SH®-1000 series gear oils are formulated with synthetic base stocks and fortified with select additive systems to enhance their exceptional performance.  The synthetic base fluid used has outstanding oxidation and thermal stability, naturally high viscosity index and excellent low temperature pumpability and fluidity.  The unique additive system used provides increased oxidation stability, extreme-pressure properties, and maximum protection against wear, rust, corrosion and foaming.

In today’s world of efficiency improvements, there has been much emphasis placed on reducing energy requirements for equipment used in plant operations.  Summit Syngear® synthetic gear lubricants have proven to reduce friction, thereby reducing the input power to operate the equipment or increasing the available power output.  The reduction of fluid friction results in lower lubricant operating temperatures, prolonging the life of both the lubricant and the equipment.  The additive system used in this product not only reduces frictional drag, but also protects gears against failures associated with heavy loading and meets the requirements of AGMA 250.04 and API GL-4 Gear Service Category.

RECOMMENDED USES

Syngear® SH® 1000  series gear lubricants are recommended for use in all types of enclosed gearing as well as plain and rolling element bearings.  These lubricants are ideal for heavily loaded low speed gears and bearings where boundary or elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) conditions exist, such as in mine hoist gear reducers.  They are particularly recommended for gearboxes which operate under excessively high temperatures where good quality conventional oils rapidly oxidize. Summit Syngear® Heavy Duty series gear lubricants may also be used in certain open gear applications, but it is recommended that Summit lubrication engineers be consulted to select the most effective method of application.

Syngear® SH® 1000 gear lubricants are compatible with most seal materials, paints and plastics, including nitrile  Buna N, neoprene, Viton®, teflon, polyethylene, polyurethane ether, fluorocarbon, polyacrylate, polysulfide, ethylene acrylic, epoxy, plastisol, PVC, acrylic paint and lacquer.

SYNGEAR SH-7000 SERIES

Summit Syngear® SH®-7000 Series synthetic gear and bearing oils are formulated using synthesized hydrocarbon fluid and select additives to enhance oxidation resistance and provide maximum protection against wear, rust, corrosion and foaming.  These synthesized hydrocarbon fluids (SHF) provide significantly better thermal and oxidation stability, as well as increased protection against the loss of viscosity than do conventional good quality mineral oils. The high inherent viscosity index of these oils provides higher viscosities and therefore greater film thickness at higher temperatures and lower viscosities for easy start-up and minimal internal friction at lower temperatures.  The low coefficient of friction of the Summit Syngear® SH® Series lubricants substantially reduces power consumption and gearbox operating temperature, further prolonging the useable life of this lubricant.

RECOMMENDED USES

Summit Syngear® SH® Series lubricants are recommended for use under severe high or low temperature conditions when lubricating industrial enclosed gears and heavily loaded plain or roller element bearings.  They are particularly recommended for applications where high oil temperatures result in short oil life or high maintenance costs.  Summit Syngear® SH®-7032 through Syngear® SH®-71000 are also recommended for use in applications where the corrosion of yellow metals is a concern as these lubricants do not contain additives which tend to attack metals such as brass, bronze or copper. The Summit  Syngear® SH®-Series lubricants are compatible with essentially all seal materials, plastics and paint, including nitrile Buna N, neoprene, Viton®, teflon, polyethylene, polyurethane ether, fluorocarbon, polyacrylate, polysulfate, ethylene acrylic, epoxy, plastisol, PVC, acrylic paint and lacquer.

SYNGEAR WT SERIES

Summit Syngear® WT Series lubricants are fully synthetic high performance gear oils enhanced with new generation anti-micropitting additives. The PAO base oil has outstanding oxidation and thermal stability, naturally high viscosity index and excellent low temperature pumpability and fluidity. The additive system not only minimizes scuffing wear, but offers a high level of resistance to micropitting fatigue. High load carrying capability and low sludge formation make these superior lubricants a choice for many industrial applications. Syngear® WT Series provides maximum protection against rust, corrosion, and foaming.

RECOMMENDED USES

Summit Syngear® WT Series are recommended for highly loaded enclosed gearing as well as plain and rolling element bearings. These shear stable lubricants resists damage to gear teeth caused by repeated shock loads. Syngear® WT Series lubricants are ideal for wind turbine gearboxes, mine hoist gearboxes, crane gearing, and other enclosed gearing which requires micropitting resistance. Highly loaded gearboxes in the steel, paper and cement industries are natural applications. These extended life oils perform very well in extreme environments.
